The Emptied Urn and the Empty Tomb
— Tuesday, April 7th, 2009 —
Christianity Today just posted the article I wrote for them on cremation, burial, and the wounds of Jesus. If you’d like to see it, you can access it here. I’d love to hear your thoughts. And you can vote in Christianity Today’s poll on cremation and burial here.
For another look at cremation, see my article on it from the January/February 2007 issue of Touchstone. It’s titled “Grave Signs,” but I still call it by my original title: “It Is Better to Bury than to Burn.”

Dr. Moore,
Great article. Cremation is a topic that I deal with almost everyday, because of people that work with and people within my family that want to be cremated when they pass. The oddest thing that I have done to date is give the eulogy at my grandfather’s funeral. He was cremated and when I leaned forward and saw that little box containing my grandfather’s ashes. I simply stopped and said to the people there - “That is just not right!”
