Beloved, I am so blessed to see another pastor helping to tear down the walls people, especially believers, have put in place regarding adoption. I would so encourage you, though, to consider refraining from the use of racial/transracial/biracial/etc. We are of one blood from one man, are we not? One human race. Just something to consider.

Dr. Moore,

Thanks so much for posting this. My wife and I are considering adopting transracially in the near future and talk often about the possible reaction from our families. This was very encouraging and helpful. I am going to send the link to your blog to my wife, Amy, right now.

Thank you Dr. Moore. Kevin and I are so grateful for your counsel and wisdom as we faced opposition from my family in our adoption journey. Lord willing, we will be adding two precious boys from Ethiopia to our family this summer...thank you for encouraging us to stand firm and persevere.

Richard and Demer, I'm praying for you! Stand strong! Thankfully our Father was willing to adopt "trans-racially" and people didn't like it 2000 years ago either.

Dr. Moore,

Thanks for that great message! There is someone in our family who is concerned about us adopting someone of a different race. My wife and I were disappointed when this person wasn't as thrilled as we were about this upcoming adoption. Your encouragement means a lot and I am so grateful that you are on the forefront of visible Christian leaders helping the Church to understand the deep significance of adoption and what it means for families, Christians, and the Kingdom.

Thanks so much for the encouraging advice. My wife and I have just begun the process of adoption. We are concerned about the reaction of both of our (Christian) families. We feel like our families would likely love a particular child of another race, but we wonder if their respect for the opposite race in general would continue remain less than imago dei.
