There is a liberation theology of the Left, and there is also a liberation theology of the Right, and both are at heart mammon worship. The liberation theology of the Left often wants a Barabbas, to fight off the oppressors as though our ultimate problem were the reign of Rome and not the reign of death. The liberation theology of the Right wants a golden calf, to represent religion and to remind us of all the economic security we had in Egypt. Both want a Caesar or a Pharaoh, not a Messiah. via russellmoore.com [...]

[...] Write comment What would a genuine revival look like, and how did those that have transformed America several times in the past get started? Earlier revivals were not created from the mobilization of large crowds. They occurred when people did something infrequently observed in modern times: They humbled themselves. http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/columns/Here_s-what-real-revival-looks-like-752863-102297659.html#ixzz0yrvttAJ2 I understand the desire for a spiritual awakening in America. I pray for it regularly, but I also see the condition of, what we call the church, its the same thing that I call Christendom. I make the distinction because there is a difference. Just like in the time of Jesus there were legit Jews that sought God, but also Pharisees that rejected the truth of Gods law to bring people into subjection to their religion. If you think God abides in your religion you are deceived, true salvation only abides in Jesus Christ. No matter what religious title you call yourself if you reject Jesus you are doomed. What does Revival Look like? I think the next revival will be “Come out from among her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” (Revelation 18:4) Those that will be revived will heed the call those that will not will stay in their religious entities and be doomed.
[...] I’m all for the truth and getting it out there when the media doesn’t do their job, but I’m realizing that my conservative friends are just as capable of spreading rumors and lies to further an agenda as those on the left are. It doesn’t matter what party you belong to – as a Christian, you shouldn’t agree wholeheartedly with everything that falls in line with a certain political ideology or agenda when it doesn’t coincide with the teachings of the Bible. Saying you are a “Dittohead” on the radio might make you feel good and makes you fit in with a larger group of people who share your views, but don’t stop thinking for yourselves. Getting Hannity’s acceptance with a – “You’re a great American” while the song “Independence Day” plays in the background is fine and dandy, but let’s not forget that the guy is getting paid to keep you “fired up”. He’s getting paid more in one year that you will probably see in your lifetime. I’m not against him making a living, but that’s something we should keep in the back of our minds. Too often, and for too long, American “Christianity” has been a political agenda in search of a gospel useful enough to accommodate it. Both want a Caesar or a Pharaoh, not a Messiah.–link [...]

Russell Moore offers a well needed rebuke to the church for embracing moralism as gospel and thereby denying the true gospel for the sake of our political interests. “It’s taken us a long time to get here, in this plummet from Francis Schaeffer to Glenn Beck.
