It is the balance of stewardship. We both use creation, and we care for creation. It is doing so in a manner that when He returns He says. "well done good and faithful servant, you have been faithful in the little things, I will make you ruler over much". Paraphrased. I didn't look it up.

Great Article!

I agree with the main thrust of your post, but I think you are falsely representing the views of economic libertarians regarding the environment. They are not necessarily "purely utilitarian"; for example, one approach for a libertarian environmentalist would be to argue that the best way to preserve and steward the environment is through private ownership of natural resources in order to avoid the "Tragedy of the Commons."

I know this is slightly far away from your article, but this line stuck out to me:
'Jesus, after all, doesn’t save us simply to “go to heaven when we die.”'
I grew up believing this. Pray, walk down the aisle, join the church, dunked in cold water, continue as you were. I found out in the past two years or so that this isn't the case, and I have also found that it's a serious epidemic in my part of the world (upstate South Carolina, the buckle of the Bible belt). It breaks my heart to see almost everyone I know blindly going to church to sit for a while and not be affected. I'm tired of getting saved to avoid hell. There's a big space in between salvation and death that isn't being filled.
Wow, sorry that was so off-topic.
