@Paul P, God can do anything with anybody. And there is a difference between heterosexual lust and homosexuality. Heterosexual lust can exist within the confines of a biblical marriage relationship and be expressed through their sexuality and still be pleasing to God. Homosexuality, in all of its forms, is sinful. Obviously, the general idea that homosexuality separates one from God just like any other sin is indeed correct and we should always broach any subject with love and humility, but just like those other sins it necessitates repentance in order to enter into communion with the Holy One. Homosexuality is sinful, thus says the Lord.

The homosexual community is a powerful but small political powerhouse that needs to be kept in perspective. Only about 5% of this nation is homosexual and yet they expect 95% to conform to their sexual deviancy.

The correct response is to, "Just say no.", and begin to study these people. Few of them are happy and many of them show other signs of personal neglect such as cutting and attempts at taking their own lives. These people need and want help. Nobody wants to live as an outcast and in contradtiction from the rest.

[...] Opinions abound. Scot McKnight suggests that to sit on the platform is to effectively demonstrate one’s unwavering support of the prevailing political party and that a religious leader has no business there.
I'm the pastor of a rural church in the heart of Dixie. We have a situation of a member that is in a very open homosexual relationship. She is also the daughter of a deacon. When I approached her about this, she told me she was not ready to get right with God and was fine with her lifestyle choice. She continued to serve in the church with children, youth and teaching Sunday school.

Long story short, even though most of our deacons stood up to address this issue, we got raked over the coals by the power players in the church for even attempting to address this issue with biblical parameters. But not only by the power players in the church but also the DOM, and former interim pastor, and other pastors in SBC life. There solutions we basically to "let God deal with it. We should not try to take a biblical approach to her reconciliation."

The moral is this: It's easy to point the finger at the mega churches the urban centers of this country for being soft on sin, but the real problem is biblical stupidity and humanistic tendencies coupled with unbelief that will eventually, for all practical purposes, kill the SBC.

We are pastoring those who died in the wilderness, my prayer is that God will protect and raise up a new generation of His children that will not be afraid nor blind, and that they will stand on His Word no matter what may come.

[...] Russ Moore: The Christian faith in every expression has held for 2000 years that sexual immorality is sinful.
@Tony Peterson, To quote Rick Joyner is his recent article, "The Valley of Decision" Morning Star Journal, January, 2013: "Who we align ourselves with is who we are giving allegiance to...we cannot align ourselves with them and remain aligned with Christ." To deliver an invocation is to impart the blessing of God. "How can two walk together except they be agreed" (Amos 3:3). "If I were still seeking to please men, I would not be as bondservant of Christ" (Gal. 1:10). There can be no unity between "tares" and "wheat." The Word speaks for itself.

@Paul P,
Would you say then, that fornication for the purpose of having a child is sex that honors God? I hope not. God honors the marriage bed and marital sex for the enhancement of the marriage relationship (Heb 13:4). All other sexual encounters dishonor Him. We are wading into even more dangerous waters in our land, calling good evil and evil good (abortion, sodomy, lies, debt etc, etc)

Homosexuals can demand recognition of their relationships as equivalent to marriage, but God designed marriage as we read about it in Genesis 2, and no man (or woman) however they seek to change their outward features can be "married" to one of the same gender. It's like morality; we don't define what is or isn't moral (God is Himself the definition), we just choose to obey or disobey.

Thank you, Dr Moore, for this excellent article.

Christian rise up and stand firm.... fight back, retake this nation in the name of Christ!
Secular humanism is becoming the new state religion. Read all about it in Humanist Manifesto II or attend a government high school or college. The humanists have taken over the schools, and once they have the minds of our youth... well it is all over. Christians are being pushed into the closet now. Sadly, most Christians aren't discerning enough to understand the horrible results. Most pastors are fearful of offending some of the humanists in their congregations so they rarely mention the subject. Intimidated Christian leaders... when we need men of God to lead us. Rise up oh men of God.... stand and take back this nation which was founded upon Biblical principles!

@Ronnie, This issue is being promoted by those in support of it, and Christians (of all denominations) are being relentlessly attacked over it. That is the only reason why it's being emphasized. The incident in question could not be more clear proof. This pastor was not going to speak on the subject, and apparently had barely mentioned it in 20 years. Yet he was blacklisted because it could be proved he held this belief.

Please sign the petition to President Obama to have a true Christian deliver the inaugural benediction.

WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO:
invite Sr. Simone Campbell to offer the prayer at the president's second inauguration. Sr. Simone Campbell would be an excellent choice to offer the benediction at the president's second inauguration. She has been a strong voice for economic policies that both lift the poor out of poverty and help middle-class Americans from falling into poverty. Last summer, her "Nuns-on-the-Bus" tour shed light on these important concerns. It's time for a woman of such strength, concern and faith to offer the inaugural benediction.

If you stand with Pastor Giglio, you respect his decision to withdraw his participation because he realizes his past comments are divisive (even though he's not apologetic for them) and he doesn't want to bring that baggage at the inauguration.
