Through the Bible in 2009

Justin Taylor has a very helpful post on the available Bible Reading plans. O that the Lord would make us a people of the book. Absolutely deluged by the word.

Any one of the plans Justin has posted could be deployed on the texts of the Bible in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. Lee Irons also has some helpful resources for reading through the Greek New Testament, including a reading calendar for 2009. For Hebrew, my fellow SBTS alumnus Miles Van Pelt tells me that reading programs for the Hebrew Bible will be up at his site in the near future.

Perhaps you saw the article the other day on the books that President Bush has read in the last few years. Did you notice this line?

“Each year, the president also read the Bible from cover to cover, along with a daily devotional.”

Can any of us claim that there are more demands on our time than there are on the President’s? Therefore, do any of us have any excuse for not getting the Bible read?

Do you really think it is sweeter than honey from the honeycomb?

May the Lord give us hearts that delight in his word.

Only when we see how lost we are, we can find our way again. Only when we bury what’s dead can we experience life again. Only when we lose our religion can we be amazed by grace again.
