Christians on Torture

Tweet Share

Oddly enough, at Christmas perhaps it is appropriate for Christians to think through how simultaneously to proclaim “peace on earth” and to maintain justice in a fallen world.

Justin Taylor of Desiring God Ministries, in conjunction with the Evangelical Outpost site, has organized a discussion of the recent debate over the legislation authored by U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) to outlaw the torture of terrorists by the United States.

With respondents including Albert Mohler, Richard John Neuhaus, and John Jefferson Davis, the symposium responds particularly to the Weekly Standard essay by Charles Krauthammer, “The Truth About Torture.”

“Moore to the Point” readers, I think, will find the symposium provocative and worthy of attention…even at Christmastime.

Only when we see how lost we are, we can find our way again. Only when we bury what’s dead can we experience life again. Only when we lose our religion can we be amazed by grace again.
