Baptism and the Church

Tweet Share

Pastor-theologian Sam Waldron has written a brief paper on the necessary connection between baptism and the local church. This is about the finest piece on this issue I’ve seen in a long, long time.

Waldron’s thoughts are welcome in an era when baptism is often treated (even by some Baptists) as an issue of trivial import rather than as a command of King Jesus and a central facet of the Great Commission calling of the church. Waldron discusses such issues as the Ethiopian eunuch account in Acts, a narrative that has served as a wax nose for those who wish to disconnect baptism from church membership.

You can access Dr. Waldron’s paper here.

Only when we see how lost we are, we can find our way again. Only when we bury what’s dead can we experience life again. Only when we lose our religion can we be amazed by grace again.
