Off to Israel

Tweet Share

We’re in the Louisville airport now, waiting to leave for Israel. As we do, I want to qualify that “Israel” in this context is simply what the Apostle Paul would call “Israel according to the flesh.”

I am thankful that the Israel of God isn’t a “where” or a “what” but a “Who.”

I’m looking forward to this trip but am looking far more forward to seeing the true and final Israel, Jesus of Nazareth. When he comes, the whole cosmos will be “the Holy Land.”

Only when we see how lost we are, we can find our way again. Only when we bury what’s dead can we experience life again. Only when we lose our religion can we be amazed by grace again.
