On the Issues: Reading Fiction

Fiction has played a significant role in my life since I was young. Reading fiction is not a means to an end, but rather a way to cultivate the imagination, especially for Christians who are engaging the Scriptures. Fiction presents itself to its listeners the same way that many of the Scriptures do: as stories that ultimately teach us to listen to our lives. In this episode, I talk about books that have influenced me, the value of reading fiction, and several methods of approaching literature in a meaningful way.

Only when we see how lost we are, we can find our way again. Only when we bury what’s dead can we experience life again. Only when we lose our religion can we be amazed by grace again.
