On the Issues: Legislating Morality

What do people mean when they say “you can’t legislate morality”? This is a common argument. And the idea of legislating morality is contested by people on both sides of the political aisle, depending on the issue. But what does it mean? And is it something we should embrace or reject? Neither politics nor government will ever being an end to immorality, but as Christians we should think carefully about the aims of both.

Only when we see how lost we are, we can find our way again. Only when we bury what’s dead can we experience life again. Only when we lose our religion can we be amazed by grace again.
